A Canadian golfer has made a big-time NCAA commitment.
Aphrodite Deng has verbally agreed to join the Stanford women's team in 2028, she announced on Instagram on Thursday.
Deng, the 16-year-old Calgary native, has enjoyed a decorated junior career, including becoming the first Canadian to win the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship last year.
She also won two other junior titles last year and tied for 20th at the CPKC Women's Open, cementing her status as a rising star.
Stanford has won four national women's golf championships since 2015, including two in the last three years, while producing LPGAers such as Rose Zhang, Albane Valenzuela, Megha Ganne and Andrea Lee.
