Canada's Stuart Macdonald can thank Frederik Kjettrup for getting him closer to his golf dream.
When the Danish golfer confirmed his decision to sign with LIV Golf on Friday, Macdonald got bumped up to full status on the Korn Ferry Tour for next season.
The top 10 golfers in the PGA Tour Americas final standings for 2024 received full Korn Ferry status for 2025. When the second-ranked Kjettrup bolted for LIV, the 11th-ranked Macdonald moved up to No. 10 and now will play on the PGA Tour's top feeder circuit next season.
"Christmas came early, this is really exciting news for me and my family," the 30-year-old Vancouver native said. "The Sunday after tour championship was the lowest I've been, and now at this current moment, I feel energized and motivated to see where this silly game takes me."
A similar scenario transpired for Canadian Mackenzie Hughes last year.
Hughes was 51st in the FedExCup standings before Jon Rahm left for LIV. The top 50 got into all signature events for 2024.
Macdonald has played 77 career events on the Korn Ferry Tour, with two top-five finishes.
The top 20 players at the end of the Korn Ferry season earn PGA Tour cards.
The 2025 season begins Jan. 12-15 with the Bahamas Golf Classic.
