Canadian Vanessa Borovilos had a round to remember on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old from Etobicoke, Ont., shot a 9-under 63 at the U.S. Women's Amateur Golf Championship to set the record for the lowest round of stroke play in the 125-year history of the event.
Borovilos had six birdies in her first nine holes at Bandon Dunes and now sits at 7-under overall, one behind the three leaders who are at 8-under.
The Canadian will now advance to the match play portion of the event, as the top 64 golfers after the first two rounds of stroke play advance to single elimination match play until a winner is determined.
Borovilos is heading into her sophomore year with the Texas A&M women's golf team and was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team in her first year.
