Jon Rahm will continue the search for his first victory on the PGA Tour this season when he tees off this week as the plus-1000 favourite on the U.S. Open odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Poised to claim victory two weeks ago at the Memorial Tournament, Rahm was forced to withdraw following the third round after testing positive for COVID-19. However, two subsequent tests came back negative, enabling the 26-year-old to reduce his time in quarantine and continue his preparations for the opening round of the 121st U.S. Open on Thursday morning at Torrey Pines in San Diego.

While Rahm has failed to claim a victory on the PGA Tour since last summer's BMW Championship, he has remained a fixture near the top of the leaderboard. Rahm has cracked the top 10 in 10 of 17 appearances this season, which includes a solid fifth-place finish at the Masters and a seventh-place performance at last month's PGA Championship.

Currently No. 3 in the World Golf Rankings, victory has eluded Rahm in major tournaments so far in his career. He has particularly struggled at the U.S. Open, where he has finished among the top-20 golfers just once in five career appearances while twice missing the cut during that stretch. However, Rahm has enjoyed past success at Torrey Pines, where he claimed his first career victory at the 2017 Farmers Insurance Open, and finished second last year.

Rahm faces no shortage of challengers at the third major tournament of the season. Defending champion Bryson DeChambeau sits second on the U.S. Open odds at sports betting sites, joining rival Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth at plus-1600.

DeChambeau's victory at last fall's U.S. Open marked his first major tournament win, and the first of two victories so far this season. However, he has finished better than 38th just twice in his past six outings. A two-time U.S. Open champion, it has been a feast-or-famine season for Koepka, who has missed the cut in six of 13 outings. Koepka has also finished in the top two in three of his past seven events, including a second-place result at the PGA Championship.

And it has been all downhill for Johnson since his victory at the 2020 Masters. The world's top-ranked golfer has been a non-factor in each of his past eight outings, and he missed the cut at both the 2021 Masters and PGA Championship.

Further down the odds to win the U.S. Open this week, Corey Conners leads all Canadians as a plus-7000 wager at sportsbooks, while rising star Garrick Higgo aims to build on his first-ever PGA Tour win last weekend at the Palmetto Championship at plus-6600 odds.
