Best of The Match 3: Mickelson coaches, Barkley impresses in dominant win

Phil Mickelson and Charles Barkley defeated Stephen Curry and Peyton Manning 4 & 3 in The Match 3.

Charles Barkley might not have won a title in his Hall of Fame NBA career, but his impressively steady play helped the Mickelson-Barkley team win The Match 3 on Friday at Stone Canyon Golf Club in Oro Valley, Ariz.

Barkley and his 25 handicap were viewed as enough of an anchor to make him and five-time major champion Phil Mickelson underdogs in the alternate-shot match against Peyton Manning and Stephen Curry.

But after Manning-Curry birdied the first hole to take an early lead, Mickelson-Barkley stormed back to win four-straight holes. They never relinquished the the lead after that.

The charitable event raised $4.4 million for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
