ST. ANDREWS, Scotland — Tiger Woods will be playing the first two rounds of the British Open with England’s Justin Rose, one of the hottest players in the world with two victories in his last three starts.
It will be the first time Woods and Rose have been drawn together in the Open since 2002 at Muirfield, under far different circumstances. Rose was just starting to turn his game around, while Woods was going for the calendar Grand Slam.
Rose comes into this Open having won the Memorial and the AT&T National on the PGA Tour. Woods has yet to win this year, coming off a five-month break from the chaos in his personal life.
Camilo Villegas of Colombia is the third player in their group Thursday.
Canadian Mike Weir will start with Darren Clark and Davis Love III.
