In all the euphoria of her sixth win on the LPGA Tour, Brooke Henderson never forgot about the recent tragedy that rocked her native Canada.

After sinking her final putt for par on the 18th green of Ko Olina Golf Club in Oahu, Hawaii, to win the Lotte Championship, Henderson dedicated the victory to the city of Humboldt in the wake of the horrific bus crash of the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team that claimed 16 lives.

“There’s also been that really bad accident that happened last week in Saskatchewan,” she told reporters after her. “I was just trying to stay strong for them and I would like to dedicate this win to them as well.”

All week, her and fellow Canadian golfers wore green and gold ribbons to honour the victims in the accident.
