SEOUL, South Korea — Lee Min-chang made a late charge to seize a one-shot lead over tournament host K.J. Choi after the first round of the CJ Invitational on Thursday.
Lee’s 6-under 66 left him leading the 14th-ranked Choi and Kim Do-hoon after the pair of South Koreans went around the Haesley Nine Bridges Golf Club in 5-under 67.
Australian golfers Scott Hend and Adam Groom both shot 68 alongside Hwang Jae-min of South Korea and American player Anthony Kim, who moved up the leaderboard after finishing the back nine in 31.
Lee Tae-hee of South Korea thrilled with a hole-in-one at the par-three fifth on his way to a three-under 69, where he was joined by another four players.
