BATH, Ont. — Toronto’s Anna Kim leads the junior girls division, while Josh Whalen of Napanee, Ont., and Austin James of Bath are tied atop the leaderboard in the junior boys division after two rounds at the CN Future Links Ontario Championship.
Kim carded an even 72 Saturday to maintain her lead, with a two-day total of 1-under 143. After a challenging front nine that included four bogeys and a single birdie, Kim bounced back with a bogey-free back nine and three more birdies to give herself a three shot lead going into the final round of competition.
Kim’s Team Canada team mate and defending CN Future Links Ontario champion Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont., was second after carding 1-under 71, giving her a two-day total of 2-over 146. Henderson trailed by four shots after the first round of competition, but she converted five birdies and four bogeys today to bring her one shot closer to the lead.
Samantha Spencer, 15, of Georgetown, Ont. managed to stay in sole possession of third place after the second round, with a two-day total of 7-over 151.
In junior boys action, Whalen carded 1-under 71 in the second round, giving him a two-day total of 3-under 141. James moved into a tie for first with a second round of 3-under 69. James converted six birdies on the back nine.
Nicholas Crozier of Unionville, Ont., was third position after posting a 2-under 70 in the second round.
