LONDON — Walker Cup squad member Ben Enoch has been killed in a car crash, says the chief executive of the Golf Union of Wales.

Enoch, whose elder brother Rhys is also part of the Great Britain and Ireland squad set to face the United States in September, was driving to a tournament Thursday in England when his car crashed into a trailer.

Enoch, 19, was due to go to the U.S. later in the year to take up a golf scholarship at East Tennessee University, where Rhys is already a student.

Last summer, the Welsh golfer was part of the Great Britain and Ireland boys team that beat the Continent of Europe.

The 2009 Walker Cup is being played at the Merion Golf Club in Pennsylvania on Sept. 12-13.
