Dustin Johnson will be looking for his second win on the PGA Tour this season when he defends his title this week as a +600 favourite on the 2019 Canadian Open odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Johnson earned his win at the WGC-Mexico Championship back in late February, and is coming off a second-place performance at the PGA Championship as +800 chalk that leaves him with five top-five finishes this season going into Thursday morning’s tee-off of the RBC Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf & Country Club in Ancaster, Ontario.

And while Johnson’s loss to Brooks Koepka at the PGA Championship cost him his spot atop the World Golf Rankings, where he now sits at No. 2, the 34-year-old American has enjoyed regular success at the Canadian Open, with last year’s win preceded by second-place finishes in both 2016 and 2013.

Johnson is closely trailed on the RBC Canadian Open odds by Koepka at +650, while Rory McIlroy rounds out the front of the pack at +800.

Koepka will be making his first appearance since successfully defending his PGA Championship title last month as a +2000 wager. The 29-year-old has now posted wins in four of his past eight major tournament appearances, and added a second-place finish at this year’s Masters.

But Koepka has turned in middling results otherwise, cracking the top five in just three outings while finishing out of the top 20 on five occasions, and he also missed the cut at last year’s Canadian Open.

McIlroy is coming off his worst performance of the season last weekend, missing the cut at the Memorial Tournament while seated comfortably as a +900 favourite on the golf odds. The 30-year-old had enjoyed a consistent run, with top ten finishes in nine of his previous 10 outings, including a tie for eighth place at the PGA Championship while sporting short +1200 odds. McIlroy will be making his first-ever appearance at the Canadian Open this week.

Further down the RBC Canadian Open futures at online betting sites, Justin Thomas sits at +1600, ahead of Matt Kuchar, who joins Webb Simpson at +2200, and Sergio Garcia at +2800, while Bubba Watson is joined at +3300 by Henrik Stenson and Scott Piercy, who won this tournament the last time it was held at Hamilton Golf & Country Club back in 2012.

Thomas remains listed at No. 6 on the World Golf Rankings despite some recent shaky outings. The 26-year-old missed the cut at the Memorial Tournament, and has failed to break into the top ten in five outings since the WGC-Mexico Championships.
