Matthew Wolff will look to rebound from a disappointing fourth-round performance at the Memorial Tournament as he tries to defend his title at this week’s 3M Open as a +2500 wager on the PGA Tour odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Wolff has struggled to regain consistent form since the PGA Tour resumed last month. In addition to finishing a distant 22nd last weekend at the Memorial Tournament, the 21-year-old has missed the cut in three of his past five outings going into this weekend’s 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minn.
However, in addition to earning his first-ever win on the PGA Tour at the inaugural edition of this event in 2019, Wolff impressed at the Rocket Mortgage Classic earlier this month, turning in his best performance of the season with a strong second-place finish. Wolff should benefit from a less competitive field in this week’s tournament. The 2020 3M Open features just two of the world’s ten top-ranked golfers, with recent winners on the PGA Tour like Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Webb Simpson taking a pass on the event.
One recent winner teeing off this weekend is Dustin Johnson, who travels to Minnesota set as the +1000 favourite on the 3M Open odds at betting sites. Johnson vaulted to No. 4 on the World Golf Rankings with his victory at the Travelers Championship in late June. The win ended a lengthy 16-month drought for the 2016 U.S. Open winner. However, Johnson has struggled badly at times in his four PGA Tour appearances since the season resumed, twice missing the cut, including last weekend at the Memorial Tournament.
Further down the 3M Open odds, Brooks Koepka trails Johnson as a +1200 second favourite. Tommy Fleetwood joins Tony Finau at +1400, ahead of Paul Casey at +2200, while a group of five golfers are knotted at +3300, including Bubba Watson, Erik Van Rooyen, Harris English, Lucas Glover, and Russell Henley.
Hampered by a knee injury he suffered last year, Koepka has failed to regain the form this season that powered him to four major tournament wins between 2017 and 2019. The 30-year-old American is coming of a distant 62nd-place finish at the Memorial Tournament, and he has cracked the top 30 just once in 10 PGA Tour appearances this season, with a seventh-place performance at last month’s RBC Heritage.
Finau seized the early lead last weekend, but fell well off the pace while turning in a disastrous final-round 78. While his eighth-place finish marked his best outing since the PGA Tour resumed, Finau has work to do to improve on his 23rd-place performance at last year’s 3M Open tournament.
