Phil Mickelson was seen sporting a jacket with a familiar silhouette during the opening round of the PGA Tour’s CareerBuilder Challenge on Thursday.
The logo resembles himself jumping in the air with both arms stretched above his head, armed with a putter in his right hand. It is a representation of his iconic reaction to winning the 2004 Masters tournament — his first ever major and first of three wins at Augusta.
After his opening round, Mickelson hinted that there was something in the works.
“We’ve been working on something that we’ll be involved with later in the year that I’m not really ready to talk about,” Mickelson said in his post-round press conference, “but it’s just been a fun offseason, in that, although I’ve had surgeries, I’ve been able to spend time with my family and kind of plan for some things in the future and it’s been really an exciting time.”
The CareerBuilder Challenge is Mickelson’s first PGA Tour event of the season and the first since having two hernia surgeries back in October and December. In his first round back he shot 68.
