TORONTO — Canadian Mike Weir will round out the field at the Telus World Skins Game this summer, organizers announced Monday.
The Bright’s Grove, Ont., native, who has eight PGA Tour victories, including the 2003 Masters, has appeared five times in the Canadian golf event over the years, winning 20 skins for $400,000.
"I’m very excited about the opportunity to not only play in the Skins Game, but to represent Canada, and play again in front of the Canadian fans out West who have always been so supportive," Weir said in a statement.
The event will feature five of the top names in international golf, each representing a different country, including Fred Couples, Greg Norman, Camilo Villegas and Colin Montgomerie.
Villegas will represent his native Colombia, while Montgomerie, making only his second career appearance in Canada, will be representing Scotland.
Couples will represent the United States with Norman representing Australia at the event, which will take place at Predator Ridge from June 16-17.
Defending champion John Daly will not participate.
