Oscar Hemming finally has a place to play hockey ahead of the 2026 NHL Draft.
The Finnish-born forward will join Boston College for the second half of the season, the NCAA team announced Friday.
A 2026 NHL Draft prospect, Hemming was taken by the Kitchener Rangers in this summer's CHL Import Draft, and had hoped to play for the OHL team.
But Kiekko-Espoo, Hemming's Finnish club, disputed his transfer, leaving the six-foot-four player without a place to play.
The BCHL's Sherwood Park Crusaders then announced they had signed Hemming in October. The BCHL does not fall under the Hockey Canada umbrella.
But the Waterloo Region Record's Josh Brown reported the forward changed his plans after concerns about his IIHF eligibility arose.
Sportsnet's Sam Cosentino had Hemming ranked 24th in his November draft rankings.
Hemming had four goals and two assists in five games for Finland at last summer's Hlinka Gretzky Cup under-18 tournament.
Boston College (10-5-1) resumes play Sunday against reigning national champion Western Michigan.
