Bennett, Crouse help Frontenacs edge Knights

Sam Bennett scored his fifth goal in six games to help the Kingston Frontenacs defeat the London Knights.

KINGSTON, Ont. – Sam Bennett scored once and set up two more and Lawson Crouse tacked on three helpers as the Kingston Frontenacs slipped past the visiting London Knights 4-3 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Spencer Watson, Ryan Verbeek and Evan McEneny also scored for the Frontenacs (27-26-8), who have won three games in a row.

Max Domi, Matt Rupert and Victor Mete supplied the offence for the Knights (38-23-3).

Kingston’s Lucas Peressini made 20 saves for the win as Tyler Parsons kicked out 44-of-48 shots for London.

The Frontenacs went 2 for 4 on the power play while the Knights scored once on six chances with the man advantage.

RANGERS 3, SPIRIT 0

KITCHENER, Ont. — Jake Paterson made 31 saves and David Miller had two goals and an assist as the Rangers blanked Saginaw.

Brandon Robinson also scored for Kitchener (29-22-10) and Frank Hora added three assists.

David Ovsjannikov turned away 43-of-46 shots for the Spirit (25-35-3).

STEELHEADS 3, 67’s 2

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Cameron Zanussi made 36 saves and Thomas Lattavo’s first-career OHL goal was the difference as the Steelheads downed Ottawa.

Brandon Devlin and Stefan LeBlanc also scored for Mississauga (24-36-3).

Brendan Bell and Travis Konecny struck for the 67’s (34-24-5), who are on a four-game slide, while Leo Lazarev stopped 22-of-25 shots in defeat.

OTTERS 5, BATTALION 3

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Alex DeBrincat had two goals and two helpers and Devin Williams made 26 saves as Erie beat the Battalion for its fourth straight victory.

Remi Elie, Dylan Strome and Patrick Murphy also scored for the Otters (44-14-4) and Connor McDavid added two assists.

Mathew Santos, Ryan Kujawinski and Zach Poirier found the back of the net for North Bay (32-19-11). Jake Smith turned aside 25-of-29 shots.

GREYHOUNDS 1, ATTACK 0

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Bryan Moore’s goal at 3:43 of the second period was all Sault Ste. Marie needed to beat the Attack and earn its 12th win in a row.

Brandon Halverson only had to stop 17 shots for the Greyhounds (50-11-2) for his fifth shutout of the season.

Jack Flinn gave Owen Sound (31-22-9) an opportunity to win by stopping 42-of-43 shots against.

GENERALS 6, SPITFIRES 3

WINDSOR, Ont. — Cole Cassel had three goals and an assist as Oshawa handed the Spitfires their fifth straight defeat.

Michael Dal Colle had a goal and two helpers for the Generals (48-9-5) while Sam Harding and Kenny Huether added the others. Ken Appleby made 16 saves for the win.

Lucas Venuto and Slater Doggett supplied the scoring for Windsor (24-34-4) as Brendan Johnson turned away 33-of-39 shots in a losing cause.

STING 5, STORM 2

SARNIA, Ont. — Justin Fazio made 37 saves as the Sting used a thee-goal third period to get past Guelph.

Jordan Kyrou, Nikita Korostelev and David Brown scored in the final 20 minutes for Sarnia (28-28-7). Patrick White and Jeff King opened the scoring in the first period.

Pius Suter had a pair of goals for the Storm (35-24-4), who started Justin Nichols in net before turning to Bradley Van Schubert in the third. Nichols allowed five goals on 31 shots in 51:51 of action. VanSchubert stopped all four shots he faced in relief.
