Canada’s Barrett Hayton questionable for world junior gold medal game

During Headlines the panel discussed Barrett Hayton’s injury, the Calgary Flames not using free cap space on part-time players and Peter Laviolette not being on the hot seat despite recent troubles.

Canadian captain Barrett Hayton is questionable for Sunday’s gold medal game at the world juniors after a hard fall into the boards during Canada’s semifinal win over Finland on Saturday.

“There’s been no official word, Ron, on his status for the gold medal game tomorrow,” said Chris Johnston during the Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada. “But there is some concern that he won’t be able to play after suffering an injury here.”

Hayton, who suffered the injury in the third period against Finland, is the tournament’s co-leader in points alongside Sweden’s Samuel Fagemo with 11.

Canada will face Russia, who handed the Canadians a record defeat during the preliminary round, in Sunday’s gold medal game.
