After a scary crash onto the boards that forced him to sit a big part of the third period in Canada’s semifinal win over Finland, captain Barrett Hayton is in the lineup for the gold-medal match against Russia at the world junior hockey championship.
Hayton is second in tournament scoring with six goals and 11 points trailing Sweden’s Samuel Fagemo who leads the world juniors with 13 points.
After missing out on the semifinals against Finland with an illness, defenceman Bowem Byram also returned to the lineup for Canada.
Canada faces Russia, who handed the Canadians a record defeat during the preliminary round, in Sunday’s gold-medal game.
