Finland upsets Russia, moves into 2nd in group B

MALMO, Sweden — Henrik Haapala scored the winner and Finland used a three-goal third period to beat Russia 4-1 Monday at the world junior hockey championship.

Finland (2-0-1) moved into second place into Group B with the win, three points behind leader Sweden. Russia (2-0-1) drops to third, with a round-robin game against Sweden on Tuesday.

Saku Maenalanen, Rasmus Kulmala and Joni Nikko also scored for Finland.

Valeri Vasiliev replied for Russia.

Juuse Saros made 28 saves for Finland, while Ivan Nalimov stopped 27 shots for Russia.
