The Kingston Frontenacs have acquired defenceman Stephen Desrocher from the Oshawa Generals.

In return, the Generals will receive a third- and fifth-round selection in 2016, a second-round pick in both 2017 and 2018, along with a conditional third-round pick in 2019 and a conditional second-round pick in 2021.

“Adding Stephen is another very important piece of the puzzle that we are trying to assemble,” Frontenacs general manager Doug Gilmour said in a press release. “He’s a leader and a player that knows what it takes to win in this league.

“Stephen moves the puck extremely well and will be a huge boost for our power play. In terms of defencemen that we wanted to add to our team, he was on the top of the list.”

Desrocher, 19, is tied for first among OHL defencemen with five goals and ranks seventh with 11 points in 17 games. He had 10 goals and 23 points for the Generals in 2014-15 and added another 12 points in 21 playoff games en route to a Memorial Cup title.

The six-foot-four, 198-pound Toronto native was drafted in the sixth round, 155th overall, by the Maple Leafs in 2015.

Kingston sits first place in the East Division with a 9-4-1-1 record.
