Canadian world junior defenceman and Los Angeles Kings prospect Kale Clague has been traded to the Moose Jaw Warriors by the Brandon Wheat Kings in a WHL blockbuster deal.
The Wheat Kings are acquiring forward Luke Burzan, defenceman Chase Hartje, a first-round pick in 2019 and 2021, along with a second-round pick in 2018.
Burzan, 18, has six goals and 19 points in 42 games this season.
Hartje, 18, has 17 assists in 31 games.
Clague was an assistant captain on Canada’s gold-medal winning world junior squad and has 10 goals and 47 points in 28 games this season.
In another big WHL deal, the Prince George Cougars traded captan Dennis Cholowski and the playing rights to goaltender Ty Taylor to the Portland Winterhawks in exchange for forward Ilijah Colina, Connor Bowie, a first-round pick in 2020, second-round picks in 2018 and 2019, a third-round pick in 2020, and a conditional sixth-round pick in 2019.
Colina, 17, has three goals and 15 points in 37 games this season.
Bowie, 16, has 20 goals and 35 points in 18 games with NEBC Trackers of the Northern Alberta Hockey League.
Cholowski, a defenceman, has 13 goals and 39 points in 37 games with Prince George this season.
