The Guelph Storm have acquired defenceman Fedor Gordeev from the Flint Firebirds in exchange for a package of OHL Priority picks.

The Firebirds will receive Mississauga’s second-round pick in the 2021 and Guelph’s second-round pick in the 2024. Flint will also get Sudbury’s third-round pick in the 2022 and Guelph’s fifth-round pick in the 2022 should Gordeev return to play his overage season.

“We are thankful for what Fedor has provided this organization during his time in Flint,” said Flint Firebirds general manager Barclay Branch in a release. “We wish Fedor all the best in his hockey career moving forward.”

Gordeev has three goals and 19 points in 32 games this season, and was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fifth round of the 2017 NHL Draft.

The trade gets the 19-year-old away from the last-place Firebirds, which have struggled since moving from Plymouth in 2015.
