The Ontario Hockey League’s regular season is over, meaning it’s time to hand out some hardware.
On Wednesday, the OHL announced its official list of award nominees with the likes of London Knights forward Max Domi, Erie Otters’ rookie Alex DeBrincat and Anthony DeAngelo of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the most outstanding, top rookie and top defenceman categories, respectively.
Of most interest, the Otter nominated for most outstanding player was projected NHL No. 1 pick Connor McDavid and not Dylan Strome, who led the OHL with an Erie record 129 points.
In McDavid’s defence, however, the 17-year-old did finish third in OHL scoring with 120 points in just 47 games played, for an outstanding 2.5 points per game clip.
