OHL Roundup: Austen Keating scores twice as 67’s double up Colts

BARRIE, Ont. — Austen Keating scored twice and Cedrick Andree kicked out 34 shots as the Ottawa 67’s doubled up the Barrie Colts 4-2 and picked up their 14th win in their past 16 games in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday.

Sam Bitten chipped in the game-winning goal for the league-leading 67’s (17-3-2) at 10:22 of the third period. Kody Clark also scored for the 67’s.

Jason Willms and Lucas Chiodo answered for the Colts (9-9-1), who lost their third straight game.

Maksim Zhukov turned away 26 shots for Barrie.

STEELHEADS 5 FIREBIRDS 4

FLINT, Mich. — Alan Lyszczarczyk scored twice and added two assists as Mississauga denied the lowly Firebirds.

Lyszczarczyk notched the game-winning goal for the Steelheads (11-6-2) on the power play at 19:15 of the third period. Cole Carter, Richard Whittaker and Owen Tippett also scored for the Steelheads. Thomas Harley added a trio of assists. Jake Durham, Fedor Gordeev, Ty Dellandrea and C.J. Clarke replied for the Firebirds (2-17-1).

Jacob Ingham combined with Joe Ranger for 22 saves for Mississauga. Emanuel Vella kicked out 44 shots for Flint.

The Steelheads’ Ryan McLeod was given a game misconduct for cross checking at 13:58 of the second period.

FRONTENACS 5 GENERALS 1

KINGSTON, Ont. — Jason Robertson had a hat trick and added an assist as Kingston thumped Oshawa.

Ryan Cranford and Brett Neumann also scored for the Frontenacs (6-15-1). Matt Brassard scored the lone goal for the Generals (10-7-2).

Brendan Bonello kicked out 30 shots for Kingston. Kyle Keyser stopped 20 shots for Oshawa.

BATTALION 4 ICEDOGS 3

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Adam McMaster set up two goals as North Bay held on for a 4-3 victory over Niagara.

Brad Chenier scored the game-winning goal for the Battalion (10-8-1) at 16:07 of the second period. Brandon Coe, Matthew Struthers and Braden Henderson also scored for the Battalion. Daniel Bukac, Drew Hunter and Ben Jones replied for the IceDogs (10-6-3).

Christian Purboo turned away 35 shots for North Bay. Christian Sbaraglia stopped 21 shots for Niagara.

The IceDogs’ Bukac and the Battalion’s Daniel Walker were given game misconducts for fighting prior to or during puck drop at 5:06 of the second period.

BULLDOGS 3 PETES 1

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Zachary Roy made 38 saves and Brandon Saigeon scored the game-winning goal as Hamilton topped Peterborough for its third straight win.

Avery Hayes and Nicolas Mattinen also scored for the Bulldogs (10-8-1). Adam Timleck was the only Pete to score.

Hunter Jones turned aside 33 shots for Peterborough (11-9-0).

SPIRIT 5 GREYHOUNDS 3

SAGINAW, Mich. — DJ Busdeker scored twice and Ivan Prosvetov kicked out 32 shots as Saginaw tamed Sault Ste. Marie to pick up its second straight win.

Busdeker supplied the game-winning goal on a power play for the Spirit (10-6-2) at 6:00 of the second period. Cole Coskey, Aidan Prueter and Nicholas Porco also netted goalsfor the Spirit. Cole MacKay, Barrett Hayton and Morgan Frost replied for the Greyhounds (12-5-4).

Mario Peccia combined with Ethan Taylor for 26 saves for Sault Ste. Marie.

WOLVES 4 STING 3 (SO)

SARNIA, Ont. — Owen Gilhula scored the lone shootout goal and Cole Candella had two goals in regulation as Sudbury overcame Sarnia.

Macauley Carson also scored for the Wolves (11-6-2). Brayden Guy, Alexandre Hogue and Hugo Leufvenius answered for the Sting (7-8-4).

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen turned aside 33 shots for Sudbury. Aidan Hughes stopped 23 shots for Sarnia.

SPITFIRES 2 STORM 1 (SO)

WINDSOR, Ont. — Daniel D’Amico scored the shootout winner and Michael DiPietro turned away 31 shots in regulation as Windsor outlasted Guelph for its third straight win.

Chris Playfair scored the lone goal for the Spitfires (9-9-1), while Isaac Ratcliffe replied for the Storm (10-4-5).

Anthony Popovich turned away 28 shots for Guelph.

ATTACK 4 OTTERS 0

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Mack Guzda made 18 saves for the shutout and Nick Suzuki scored twice as Owen Sound blanked Erie.

Cade Robinson and Brady Lyle also scored for the Attack (10-7-2), while Kevin Hancock notched three assists.

Daniel Murphy turned aside 40 shots for Erie (8-9-1).
