OHL Roundup: Frost leads Greyhounds past Storm for 20th straight win

GUELPH, Ont. – Morgan Frost had two goals and two assists to lead the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds over the Guelph Storm 7-1 on Saturday, extending their win streak to 20 games in Ontario Hockey League play.

The Kitchener Rangers have the longest win streak in OHL history with 25 in a row in 1984.

Barrett Hayton scored twice and added an assist for the Greyhounds (29-3-2) and Noah Carroll had a goal and three helpers. Ryan Roth and Joe Carroll rounded out the attack.

Isaac Ratcliffe replied for Guelph (17-12-3).

Matthew Villalta turned aside 25 shots for Sault Ste. Marie. Nico Daws combined with Anthony Popovich for 32 saves for the Storm.

Both teams were scoreless on two power plays apiece.

OTTERS 3 BATTALION 0

ERIE, Pa — Arnand Oberoi made 28 saves and Kyle Maksimovich had two goals and an assist as the Otters shut out North Bay.

Jordan Sambrook also scored for Erie (11-17-6).

Christian Propp turned aside 23 shots for the Battalion (12-18-4).

SPITFIRES 5 SPIRIT 1

SAGINAW, Mich. — Cole Purboo had two goals and two assists to lead Windsor over the Spirit.

Jake Smith, Curtis Douglas and Austin McEneny rounded out the attack for the Spitfires (18-11-3). Lucas Patton made 27 saves for the win in net.

Damien Giroux scored and Cameron Lamour combined with Evan Cormier for 21 saves for Saginaw (17-12-3).

KNIGHTS 3 STEELHEADS 1

LONDON, Ont. — Tyler Rollo struck twice and Joseph Raaymakers turned aside 19 shots as the Knights beat Mississauga.

Shane Collins also chipped in for London (17-14-2).

Shaw Boomhower scored for the Steelheads (12-20-1) and Emanuel Vella made 20 saves.

COLTS 5 ICEDOGS 3

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Zachary Magwood’s short-handed goal was the winner and Leo Lazarev stopped 19 shots as Barrie got past the IceDogs.

Aaron Luchuk, Lucas Chiodo, Jason Willms and Jaden Peca rounded out the attack for the Colts (20-10-3).

Kirill Maksimov, Johnny Corneil and Danial Singer scored for Niagara (16-11-5), which got 29 saves from Stephen Dhillon.

FRONTENACS 2 ATTACK 1 (SO)

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Jeremy Helvig turned away 36 shots while Matt Hotchkiss and Jason Robertson scored in the shootout as Kingston topped the Attack.

Linus Nyman found the back of the net in regulation for the Frontenacs (17-9-6).

Ethan Szypula opened the scoring for Owen Sound (14-12-5) and Olivier Lafreniere made 19 saves.

FIREBIRDS 5 STING 2

SARNIA, Ont. — Ty Dellandrea had a hat trick and two assists to lead Flint over the Sting.

Connor Roberts and Maurizio Colella also scored for the Firebirds (10-20-3). Garrett Forrest made 28 saves for the win in net.

Theo Calvas and Anthony Salinitri scored for Sarnia (25-8-2) while Justin Fazio stopped 35 shots.
