OHL Roundup: Hicks, Bulldogs snap losing skid

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Connor Hicks turned away 47-of-49 shots and Trent Fox had two goals and an assist as the Hamilton Bulldogs beat the Niagara IceDogs 5-2 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Niki Petti scored once and set up two more for the Bulldogs (18-26-4), who snapped a three-game winless streak. Mitchell Mendonca and Matthew Strome rounded out the offence with a goal each.

Stephen Harper and Tyler Boston scored for the IceDogs (24-17-6) as Alex Nedeljkovic gave up four goals on 20 shots in a losing cause.

Hamilton went 1 for 2 on the power play while Niagara failed to capitalize on its only chance with the man advantage.

STING 5 SPITFIRES 0

WINDSOR, Ont. — Jordan Kyrou struck twice and Charlie Graham made 21 saves as Sarnia blanked the Spitfires.

Travis Konecny, Noah Bushnell and Jakob Chychrun also scored for the Sting (27-14-6), who have won three in a row.

Michael DiPietro stopped 21-of-25 shots for Windsor (30-14-5).

BATTALION 4 WOLVES 2

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Mike Amadio and Daniil Vertiy each had a goal and an assist as the Battalion doubled up Sudbury.

Kyle Wood and Maurizio Colella also scored for North Bay (25-16-6), which is 5-0-2 in its last seven outings. Jake Smith made 22 saves for the victory.

Dmitry Sokolov and Matt Schmalz found the back of the net for the Wolves (12-32-4). Troy Timpano turned away 38-of-41 shots in defeat.

GREYHOUNDS 6 RANGERS 3

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Boris Katchouk had a pair of goals and Brandon Halverson made 25 saves as the Greyhounds snapped Kitchener’s four-game win streak.

Sault Ste. Marie (21-20-6) also got goals from Zachary Senyshyn, Gabe Guertler, Hayden Verbeek and Jack Kopacka.

Nick Maygar, David Miller and Connor Bunnaman scored for the Rangers (34-9-4) while Luke Richardson kicked out 28-of-33 shots in a losing cause.

STORM 4 SPIRIT 2

SAGINAW, Mich. — James McEwen had a goal and two assists and Michael Giugovaz made 41 saves as Guelph ended its five-game losing streak with a win over the Spirit.

Liam Stevens, Nicolas Sicoly and C.J. Garcia also scored for the Storm (10-31-6).

Tye Falhaber and Artem Artemov supplied the scoring for the Spirit (20-25-4). Cameron Zanussi stopped just 8-of-11 shots in a losing effort.

OTTERS 5 STEELHEADS 1

ERIE, Mich. — Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Strome each had a goal and two assists as the Otters toppled Mississauga.

Taylor Raddysh, Jake Marchment and Nick Betz also scored for Erie (38-7-1). Jake Lawr made 18 saves for the win.

Owen Tippet scored for the Steelheads (24-21-4) while Jack Flinn stopped 35-of-40 shots in defeat.

67’s 5 GENERALS 4 (SO)

OSHAWA, Ont. — Connor Warnholtz had the deciding goal in the shootout to lift Ottawa over the Generals.

Adam Craievich had a goal and two assists in regulation for the 67’s (25-22-2), and Ben Fanjoy, Jeremiah Addison, and Dante Salituro also scored.

Kenny Heuther and Mitchell Vande Sompel had a goal and an assist apiece for Oshawa (18-25-6). Riley Stillman and Joe Machurek supplied the rest of the offence and Anthony Cirelli chipped in with three assists.

PETES 3 FRONTENACS 2 (SO)

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Kyle Jenkins scored in the ninth round of the shootout to lift the Petes over Kingston.

Josh Maguire and Eric Cornel scored in regulation for Peterborough (23-20-6).

Michael Dal Colle had a goal and an assist for the Frontenacs (30-14-3) and Spencer Watson also scored.

Kingston’s Roland McKeown was handed a misconduct for abuse of the official in overtime.
