OHL Roundup: Ho-Sang, IceDogs cruise past Otters

SARNIA, Ont. – Travis Konecny scored twice and added two assists as the Sarnia Sting got past the Peterborough Petes 6-5 on Saturday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Jordan Kyrou, Sam Studnicka, Brandon Lindberg and Josh Jacobs supplied the rest of the offence for Sarnia (24-13-6).

Brandon Prophet had a goal and two assists to lead the Petes (22-19-6), who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Hunter Garlent, Jonathan Ang, Greg Betzold and Matthew Timms also scored.

Justin Fazio turned away 19 shots for the win in net as Dylan Wells made 28 saves in defeat.

The Sting scored twice on three power plays, with Peterborough going 1 for 4.

Sarnia’s Pavel Zacha received a game misconduct for checking to the head in the second period.

ICEDOGS 4 OTTERS 1

ERIE, Pa. — Jordan Maletta scored the winner late in the second period as Niagara downed the Otters.

Vince Dunn, Pavel Jenys and Josh Ho-Sang, into an empty net, rounded out the attack for the IceDogs (23-15-6).

Jake Marchment had the lone goal for Erie (37-7-1).

BULLDOGS 4 STEELHEADS 1

HAMILTON — Trent Fox, Niki Petti and Brandon Saigeon all scored in the second period for the Bulldogs as they beat Mississauga.

Matthew Strome added another late in the third period for Hamilton (17-23-4).

Josh Burnside had the lone goal for the Steelheads (23-20-4).

FRONTENACS 6 COLTS 5 (SO)

BARRIE, Ont. — Spencer Watson and Michael Dal Colle both scored in the shootout as Kingston edged the Colts.

Watson had two goals and an assist in regulation to pace the Frontenacs (29-13-3). Dal Colle had a goal and two assists while Lawson Crouse and Chad Duchesne rounded out the attack.

Kevin Labanc, Keigan Goetz, Greg DiTomaso, Dylan Sadowy and Andrew Mangiapane had goals for Barrie (26-16-2).

SPITFIRES 3 FIREBIRDS 2

FLINT, Mich. — Brendan Lemieux scored the eventual winner on the power play in the second period as Windsor slipped past the Firebirds.

Bradley Latour and Aaron Luchuk also found the back of the net for the Spitfires (28-12-5).

Nicholas Caamano and Ryan Moore had power-play goals for Flint (14-25-5), which dropped its 12th straight.

RANGERS 5 ATTACK 2

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Ryan MacInnis struck twice as Kitchener downed the Attack.

Jeremy Bracco, Mason Kohn and Gustaf Franzen rounded out the attack for the Rangers (31-8-4), who got three assists from Adam Mascherin.

Petrus Palmu and Santino Centorame scored for Owen Sound (19-17-9).
