OHL Roundup: Knights rally to beat IceDogs in overtime

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Nathan Dunkley bailed out the London Knights from an 11-minute span that almost cost them two points on Thursday.

Dunkley tied the game midway through the third, then produced the winner at 4:33 of overtime as London edged the Niagara IceDogs 5-4 in Ontario Hockey League action.

Matvey Guskov, Sahil Panwar and Cole Tymkin also scored for the Knights (26-5-4), who are 5-0-2 in their last seven and ranked No. 4 in the country.

Ben Jones had a pair of goals, including one on a penalty shot, while Kirill Maksimov and Akil Thomas added the others as the No. 9 IceDogs (22-8-6) scored four times in a 10:42 span in the second to take a 4-2 lead into the third.

Joseph Raaymakers made 31 saves for London as Stephen Dhillon turned away 43-of-48 shots for Niagara.

The Knights went 2 for 6 on the power play while the IceDogs were 2 for 4 with the man advantage.

STEELHEADS 6 PETES 5 (SO)

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Alan Lyszczarczyk had two goals and two assists and Keean Washkurak added a pair of goals as Mississauga came back to defeat the Petes.

Cole Schwindt also scored in regulation for the Steelheads (18-15-4) and Cole Carter supplied the shootout winner. Jacob Ingham made 42 saves for the victory.

Brady Hinz, Zach Gallant, Nick Robertson, Cameron Butler and Christopher Paquette scored for Peterborough (20-16-1). Hunter Jones stopped 39 shots in a losing cause.

GREYHOUNDS 5 STING 4 (OT)

SARNIA, Ont. — Keeghan Howdeshell scored at 2:47 of overtime and Matthew Villalta made 27 saves as Sault Ste. Marie slipped past the Sting.

Ryan Roth, Jordan Sambrook, Roman Pucek and Joe Carroll rounded out the Greyhounds (23-9-5) attack.

Hugo Leufvenius, Ryan McGregor, Curtis Egert and Colton Kammerer replied for the Sting (18-16-5). Ethan Langevin made 33 saves in defeat.

BATTALION 4 GENERALS 2

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Brad Chenier struck twice as the Battalion doubled up Oshawa for their seventh win in a row.

Christian Propp made 38 saves while Brandon Coe and Mitchell Russell also scored for North Bay (18-18-2).

Anthony Salinitri and Matt Brassard found the back of the net for the Generals (22-14-2). Aidan Hughes turned aside 24-of-27 shots in defeat.

SPITFIRES 5 WOLVES 4 (OT)

WINDSOR, Ont. — Will Cuylle had a hat trick as Windsor ended a three-game slide with a win over Sudbury.

Daniel D’Amico scored the winner at 1:16 of the extra period while Tyler Angle also scored in regulation for the Spitfires (16-19-3). Kari Piiroinen kicked out 21 shots for the victory.

Darian Pilon, Nolan Hutcheson, Cole Candella and Quinton Byfield supplied the goals for the Wolves (21-12-3), who have lost five in a row. Jake McGrath mae 17 saves in defeat.

COLTS 3 OTTERS 2

BARRIE, Ont. — Tyler Tucker set up all three of his team’s goals, including Ryan Suzuki’s eventual winner, as the Colts dealt Erie its third straight loss.

Ben Hawerchuk and Luke Bignell also scored while Kai Edmonds made 26 saves for Barrie (17-19-1).

Maxim Golod and Danial Singer found the back of the net for the Otters (14-21-2). Daniel Murphy made 30 saves in defeat.
