OHL Roundup: Lorentz lifts Petes past Storm

GUELPH, Ont. – Steven Lorentz scored in regulation, then had the lone goal in the shootout to lift the Peterborough Petes to a 4-3 victory over the Guelph Storm on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Hunter Garlent had a goal and an assist for the Petes (20-18-6) and Logan DeNoble rounded out the offence.

Noah Carroll scored once and grabbed two helpers to lead Guelph (9-29-4). Matthew Hotchkiss and Givani Smith, with the tying goal late in the third, had the other goals.

Matthew Mancina stopped 25 shots through regulation and overtime before turning aside all three skaters he faced in the shootout.

Michael Giugovaz made 35 saves in the losing effort.

Peterborough was 0 for 4 on the power play while the Storm scored once on four chances with the man advantage.


MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Alexander Nylander scored one goal and set up two more as the Steelheads doubled up Kingston.

Nathan Bastian had a goal and an assist for Mississauga (22-19-4) while Josh Burnside and Stefan LeBlanc also found the back of the net.

Michael Dal Colle and Warren Foegele supplied the offence for the Frontenacs (27-13-3).


OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Kyle Maksimovich’s goal early in the second period stood as the winner as Erie toppled the Attack.

Alex DeBrincat and Kyle Pettit, on a power play, also scored for the Otters (36-6-1).

Nick Suzuki had the lone goal for Owen Sound (18-16-9), opening the scoring 7:47 into the third period.


NORTH BAY, Ont. — Mike Amadio struck twice to lead the Battalion over Sudbury.

Brett Hargrave, Steve Harland and Maurizio Colella supplied the rest of the offence for North Bay (21-16-5).

Macauley Carson, Patrick Murphy and Mikkel Aagaard scored for the Wolves (11-28-4).


OTTAWA — Dante Salituro scored twice to lead the 67’s over Flint.

Ben Fanjoy and Nevin Guy also scored for Ottawa (22-20-2) while Evan de Haan and Nathan Todd chipped in with two assists apiece.

Luke Kirwan had the lone goal for the Firebirds (14-23-5), who have dropped in a games in a row.


SAGINAW, Mich. — Evan Cormier stopped all 29 shots he faces as the Spirit blanked Windsor.

Connor Brown led Saginaw (18-21-4) with a an empty-net goal and an assist. Jesse Barwell also scored.

Mario Culina made 26 saves for the Spitfires (26-12-5).


OSHAWA, Ont. — Travis Konecny had two goals and an assist as Sarnia handed the Generals their fifth straight defeat..

Matt Mistele and Anthony Salinitri also scored for the Sting (23-12-6).

Alexandre Renaud scored once for Oshawa (16-23-5) and assisted on a goal from Lukas Lofquist.
