OHL Roundup: Maksimovich, Otters deny 67’s a 7th straight win


ERIE, Pa. — Kyle Maksimovich scored in overtime and added an assist as the Erie Otters downed the Ottawa 67’s 3-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday.

Maksimovich’s marker came for the Otters (3-6-1) at 2:18 of the extra frame. Brendan Hoffmann and Danial Singer also scored for Erie.

Tye Felhaber and Marco Rossi replied for the first-place 67’s, who suffered their first loss in their past seven games.

Daniel Murphy turned away 19 shots for Erie. Will Cranley made 20 saves for Ottawa (9-3-1) .

The Otters went 0 for 3 on the power play, while the 67’s were scoreless in two opportunities with the man advantage.


LONDON, Ont. — Connor McMichael scored twice and Jordan Kooy turned aside 23 shots as London thumped Kitchener.

Cole Tymkin chipped in the game-winning goal on the power play for the Knights at 9:14 of the second period. Sahil Panwar, Billy Moskal and Nathan Dunkley also scored for the Knights (5-4-1). Joseph Garreffa and Jonathan Yantsis replied for the Rangers (6-3-2).

Lucas Pfeil combined with Luke Richardson for 33 saves for Kitchener.


SAGINAW, Mi. — Cole Perfetti scored twice and Ivan Prosvetov made 19 saves as Saginaw blanked winless Flint.

Albert Michnac, Damien Giroux, Max Grondin and, Brady Gilmour, who added two assists, also scored for the Spirit (7-4-1).

Luke Cavallin combined with Emanuel Vella for 43 saves for Flint (0-10-0).


SUDBURY, Ont. — Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 29 saves as Sudbury shutout Kingston to win their second straight game.

Macauley Carson struck the game-winning goal for the Wolves (8-4-0) at 11:00 of the first period. David Levin also scored for the Wolves.

Brendan Bonello turned away 26 shots for Kingston.


Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. — Keeghan Howdeshell scored a hat trick as Sault Ste. Marie topped Hamilton to pick up its fifth win in six games.

Zack Trott potted the game-winning goal for the Greyhounds (8-3-2) at 1:27 of the third period. Matthew Strome had two goals and an assist, while MacKenzie Entwistle added a single for the Bulldogs (7-5-1).

Matthew Villalta kicked out 24 shots for Sault Ste. Marie. Zachary Roy turned away 35 shots for Hamilton.


OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Kevin Hancock had two goals, including the game-winner as Owen Sound defeated Guelph.

Maksim Sushko, Kaleb Pearson and Cade Robinson added singles for the Attack (6-5-1). Cedric Ralph and Mason Primeau replied for the Storm (6-4-1).

Mack Guzda stopped 18 shots for Owen Sound. Nico Daws made 37 saves for Guelph.
