OHL Roundup: McMaster scores OT winner as Battalion beats IceDogs

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – Adam McMaster scored 3:44 into overtime as the North Bay Battalion edged the Niagara IceDogs 4-3 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Patrick Brown, Simon Rose and Daniel Walker had regulation-time goals for the Battalion (9-8-1).

Philip Tomasino, Matthew Philip and Bradey Johnson supplied the offence for Niagara (10-5-3).

Christian Propp made 36 saves for the win and Stephen Dhillon turned away 35 shots for the IceDogs.

North Bay didn’t score on its one power play and Niagara was 1 for 4 with the man advantage.

GENERALS 4 67’S 3 (OT)

OSHAWA, Ont. — Serron Noel put away the winner 2:48 into overtime as the Generals slipped past Ottawa.

Kyle MacLean, Giovanni Vallati and Nico Gross also scored for Oshawa (10-6-2).

Marco Rossi had a pair of goals for the 67’s (16-3-2) and Jack Quinn also found the back of the net.

KNIGHTS 2 WOLVES 1 (SO)

LONDON, Ont. — Antonio Stranges was the lone scorer in the shootout to lift the Knights over Sudbury.

Connor McMichael scored for London (11-4-2) in regulation time.

Blake Murray scored for the Wolves (10-6-2).

RANGERS 6 STING 5 (SO)

KITCHENER, Ont. — Riley Damiani scored twice in regulation and again in the shootout as Kitchener eked out a win over Sarnia.

Arber Xhekaj, Jonathan Yantsis and Rickard Hugg also scored for the Rangers (9-8-2). Damiani, Greg Meireles and Hugg scored in the shootout for Kitchener.

Ryan McGregor, Justin McCombs, Curtis Egert, Calvin Martin and Franco Sproviero replied for the Sting (7-8-3). Hugo Leufvenius and Sproviero scored in the shootout for Sarnia.

BULLDOGS 2 FRONTENACS 1

KINGSTON, Ont. — Arthur Kaliyev put away the eventual winner early in the third period as Hamilton fended off the Frontenacs.

Matthew Strome also scored for the Bulldogs. (9-8-1)

Brett Neumann scored for Kingston (5-15-1).

FIREBIRDS 4 GREYHOUNDS 2

FLINT, Mich. — Jake Durham had a pair of goals as the Firebirds upset Sault Ste. Marie.

Eric Uba’s goal at the 14:23 mark of the third period was the winner for Flint (2-16-1). Ty Dellandrea also scored for the Firebirds.

Mac Hollowell had both goals for the Greyhounds (12-4-4).

SPIRIT 5 STEELHEADS 1

SAGINAW, Mich. — Ryan Stepien had the eventual winner in the second period as the Spirit held off Mississauga.

DJ Busdeker, Cole Coskey, Reagan O’Grady and Blade Jenkins rounded out the attack for Saginaw (9-6-1).

Nicholas Canade had the only Steelheads (10-6-2) goal.

STORM 4 COLTS 3

GUELPH, Ont. — Nate Schnarr had a hat trick, including the winner, as the Storm slipped past Barrie.

Ryan Merkley also scored for Guelph (10-4-4).

Ryan Suzuki, Jaden Peca and Lucas Chiodo scored for the Colts (9-8-1).
