OHL Roundup: Noel scores OT winner as Generals beat Battalion

OSHAWA, Ont. – Serron Noel scored nine seconds into overtime to lift the Oshawa Generals to a 5-4 win over the North Bay Battalion on Monday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Allan McShane, Jack Studnicka, Kenny Huether and Danil Antropov also scored for Oshawa (28-26-3).

Luke Moncada, Matthew Struthers, Adam McMaster and Justin Brazeau scored for the Battalion (26-22-9).

Generals goaltender Kyle Keyser turned away 29 shots. North Bay’s Julian Sime made 25 saves.

Oshawa went 3 for 4 on the power play while the Battalion were 1 for 4 with the man advantage.

PETES 4 ICEDOGS 3 (OT)

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Brady Hinz’s second goal of the game was the OT winner, lifting the Petes over Niagara.

Zach Gallant scored two goals in regulation for Peterborough (21-30-6).

Akil Thomas led the IceDogs (26-21-9) with two goals and Sam Miletic also scored.

SARNIA, Ont. — Drake Rymsha scored twice as the Sting beat Saginaw.

Franco Sproviero, Jordan Kyrou, Adam Ruzicka and Sean Josling also scored for Sarnia (40-13-4).

Max Grondin had the lone goal for the Spirit (27-21-8).

RANGERS 3 67’S 2

OTTAWA — Kole Sherwood scored the winner 16:13 into the third period as Kitchener edged the 67’s.

Adam Mascherin and Greg Meireles also scored for the Rangers (38-17-2).

Noel Hoefenmayer and Tye Felhaber supplied the offence for Ottawa (25-23-8).

STEELHEADS 4 FIREBIRDS 0

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Emanuel Vella made 29 saves as the Steelheads shut out Flint.

Owen Tippett, Mathieu Foget, Adam Varga and Michael Little had goals for Mississauga (25-28-3).

Luke Cavallin turned away 33 shots for the Firebirds (16-36-5).

KNIGHTS 3 SPITFIRES 1

LONDON, Ont. — Evan Bouchard’s goal early in the second period stood as the winner as the Knights topped Windsor.

Alex Formenton and Liam Foudy also scored for London (32-21-4).

Luke Boka found the back of the net for the Spitfires (26-25-5).

FRONTENACS 5 COLTS 2

KINGSTON, Ont. — Linus Nyman and Gabriel Vilardi each scored twice as the Frontenacs beat Barrie.

Ted Nichol rounded out the offence for Kingston (32-17-8).

Dmitry Sokolov and Lucas Chiodo scored for the Colts (34-20-3).

ATTACK 4 BULLDOGS 3

HAMILTON — Kevin Hancock scored twice, including the winner shorthanded in the third period, to lead Owen Sound over the Bulldogs 4-3.

Jonah Gadjovich also had two goals for the Attack (29-20-7).

Matthew Strome, Isaac Nurse and Arthur Kaliyev supplied the offence for Hamilton (35-16-6).

Riley Stillman of the Bulldogs was given a match penalty for check to the head at 12:47 of the second period.

OTTERS 4 STORM 0

GUELPH, Ont. — Daniel Murphy stopped all 28 shots he faced as Erie blanked the Storm.

Chad Yetman scored twice and Gera Poddubnyi and Owen Headrick also scored for the Otters (18-29-10).

Nico Daws turned away 20 shots for Guelph (27-23-6).
