OHL Roundup: Storm beat Attack in 9th round of SO

The Niagara IceDogs defeated the Ottawa 67’s on Friday Night Hockey for their fifth straight win.

GUELPH, Ont. – Nicolas Sicoly scored the winner in the ninth round of the shootout as the Guelph Storm beat the Owen Sound Attack 4-3 on Friday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Givani Smith and Luke Burghardt had power-play goals for the Storm (9-29-3), who won their third in a row. James McEwan evened the game with a short-handed goal in the third.

Petrus Palmu, Santino Centorame and Ethan Szypula found the back of the net for Owen Sound (17-15-9).

Michael Guigovaz turned away 37 shots for the win as Michael McNiven kicked out 22-of-25 shots in defeat.

Guelph went 2 for 7 on the power play, with the Attack going scoreless on five chances.

FRONTENACS 7 FIREBIRDS 1

KINGSTON, Ont. — Jared Steege struck twice as the Frontenacs handed Flint its ninth-straight loss.

Spencer Watson, Michael Dal Colle and Warren Foegele all had a goal and two assists for Kingston (26-12-3). Ryan Verbeek and Juho Lammikko rounded out the attack.

Vili Saarijarvi had a power-play goal in the first period for the Firebirds (14-22-5).

ICEDOGS 4 67’S 1

OTTAWA — Christopher Paquette scored the eventual winner in the first period as Niagara downed the 67’s.

Brendan Perlini, Josh Wesley and Ryan Mantha, on the power play, had the others for the IceDogs (22-13-5), who won their fifth straight.

Jeremiah Addison had the lone goal for Ottawa (20-20-2) on the power play.

WOLVES 4 GREYHOUNDS 2

SUDBURY, Ont. — Kyle Capobianco and David Levin both had a goal and an assist as the Wolves doubled up Sault Ste. Marie.

Macauley Carson and Mikkel Aagaard also chipped in for Sudbury (11-27-4), which had a three-goal first period.

Jack Kopacka and Blake Speers answered back in the second for the Greyhounds (18-18-6).

STING 4 GENERALS 1

SARNIA, Ont. — Pavel Zacha scored once and added two assists as the Sting downed Oshawa.

Jakob Chychrun, Troy Lajeunesse and Sam Studnicka supplied the rest of the offence for Sarnia (22-11-6).

Robbie Burt tied the game at 1-1 in the first period for the Generals (16-22-5).

BULLDOGS 6 COLTS 4

HAMILTON — Michael Cramarossa and MacKenzie Entwistle had a goal and an assist each as the Bulldogs downed Barrie.

Matt Luff, Luke Kutkevicius, Matthew Strome and Brandon Saigeon supplied the rest of the scoring for Hamilton (15-23-3), which snapped a six-game skid.

Justin Scott struck twice for the Colts (24-16-1), with Andrew Mangiapane and Dylan Sadowy adding the others. Rasmus Andersson tacked on three helpers.

RANGERS 5 STEELHEADS 3

KITCHENER, Ont. — Adam Mascherin had a pair of goals as the Rangers toppled Mississauga for their third straight win.

Ryan MacInnis had a goal and two assists, with Jeremy Bracco and Darby Llewellyn also scoring for Kitchener (29-6-4).

Alexander Nylander, Daniel Muzito-Bagenda and Mason Marchment scored for the Steelheads (21-18-4).

KNIGHTS 7 SPIRIT 1

LONDON, Ont. — Christian Dvorak and Aaron Berisha both had two goals and an assist as the Knights routed Saginaw.

Max Jones also scored twice for London (30-7-3), which also got a goal from Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Mitchell Marner. JJ Piccinich and Daniel Bernhardt tacked on three assists each.

Mike Davies had the lone goal for the Spirit (17-20-4).
