OHL: Sproviero powers Sting past Rangers; Sarnia leads series 2-1

SARNIA, Ont. – Franco Sproviero scored twice as the Sarnia Sting beat the Kitchener Rangers 4-1 on Tuesday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

The win gives Sarnia a 2-1 series lead.

Sean Josling put away the eventual winner for the Sting at 19:56 of the first period. Jonathan Ang also scored, while Justin Fazio made 26 saves for the win.

Joseph Garreffa replied for the Rangers, as Mario Culina kicked out 23 shots in net.

Sarnia was 1 for 5 on the power play and Kitchener was 1 for 4 with the man advantage.

KINGSTON, Ont. — Gabriel Vilardi struck twice as the Frontenacs doubled Barrie to tie their series 2-2.

Linus Nyman’s short-handed goal was the eventual winner and Cliff Pu also scored for Kingston. Jeremy Helvig made 30 saves for the win.

Lucas Chiodo and Dmitry Sokolov supplied the offence for the Colts. Leo Lazarev stopped 32 shots.
