QMJHL: Vishnevskiy powers Huskies

The Chicoutimi Sagueneens have excelled at keeping opposition goal-scorers at bay.

Finding the net themselves, however, has proven to be far more difficult.

Ivan Vishnevskiy scored twice and Guillaume Blouin stopped 27 shots as the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies earned a 5-2 victory Wednesday, handing the Sagueneens their third straight loss.

Hugo Carpentier’s seventh goal of the season, and third in the past two games, stooed as the game winner for the Huskies (5-0-1-0), one of just three teams yet to lose in regulation this season.

The story was the same for Chicoutimi, which has allowed a respectable 14 goals over its first five games but has just one win to show for it — thanks to an offence that has registered a league-low eight goals. The Sagueneens have yet to score more than three goals in a game this season.

Maxime Macenauer had a goal and two assists for Rouyn-Noranda, while Tyler Hawes added a single in the win.

In Wednesday’s other QMJHL game, it was: Moncton 4, Drummondville 1.

At Chicoutimi, Que., Christopher Guay had both goals for the Sagueneens, who were held scoreless in seven power-play opportunities. Rouyn-Noranda went 0-for-5 with the man advantage.

Chicoutimi netminder Francois Levesque made 27 saves in defeat.

Wildcats 4 Voltigeurs 1

At Moncton, N.B., Murdock McLellan scored the game winner 7:32 into the second period and Nicola Riopel stopped 30 shots to lead the Wildcats past Drummondville.

Matt Eagles, Matt Marquardt and Zach Sill added singles for Moncton (3-0-1-1), which scored three times in the second period to blow open a 1-1 game.

Radek Vlasanek countered with a first-period goal while Maxime Gougeon and Bradley Dyke combined to make 23 saves in goal for the Voltigeurs (2-2-0-1).
