CHARLOTTETOWN — Chris Doyle, a forward with P.E.I. Rocket of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and wilfully damaging property.

Court documents show Doyle, a 19-year-old Charlottetown native, allegedly assaulted one woman and damaged the laptop of another women last week in Charlottetown.

Serge Savard Jr., the hockey club’s president and governor, says the fourth-year centre will remain with the team.

Doyle was released on an undertaking with conditions.

He is expected to enter a plea Oct. 22 in provincial court in Charlottetown.

The New York Rangers picked Doyle in the fifth round of the 2008 NHL draft and signed him to a three-year, entry-level deal earlier this summer.
