As the hockey world continues to adjust to the growing COVID-19 pandemic, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday that all remaining games on the league’s 2019-20 schedule have been cancelled.

The league also provided clarification on how they sorted out the final regular season general standings, as outlined in their league rules:

• The Commissioner shall determine the general standings of the teams by using the points percentage if all teams have not played the same number of games at the time of the event

• The order of selections for the QMJHL Entry Draft shall then be made according to the reverse order of the teams in the general standings; the team ranked last choosing first and so on, up to the first team, and

• Should two or more teams be tied at the same rank, the team rankings will be conducted according to the tie-breaking procedure set forth in article 1.2.2 of R-12 Regulation (The Game: Rules and Procedures).

The league’s season was originally slated to conclude on March 21.

In cutting the campaign short, the league ends the 2019-20 bid from the likely No. 1 pick in the upcoming NHL Draft, Alexis Lafreniere. Through 52 games this season, the 18-year-old posted 35 goals, 77 assists and a career-high 112 points.
