QMJHL: Gravel perfect as Mooseheads blank Drakkar to win series

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. – Alexis Gravel stopped all 41 shots he faced as the Halifax Mooseheads shut out the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 4-0 on Friday to win their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff series.

Halifax took the first-round series 4-1.

Arnaud Durandeau scored twice to lead the Mooseheads’ offence. Jocktan Chainey’s goal 6:26 into the first was the eventual winner and Connor Moynihan also scored.

Francis Leclerc turned away 28 shots for Baie-Comeau.

Halifax did not score on its four power plays and the Drakkar had no man advantages.

TIGRES 4 OLYMPIQUES 2

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Vitalii Abramov had a pair of goals, including the winner, as the Tigres sank Gatineau.

Victoriaville won the best-of-seven series 4-1.

Ivan Kosorenkov and Jeremie Beaudin also scored for the Tigres.

Dawson Theede scored twice for the Olympiques.

TITAN 4 SAGUENEENS 1

BATHURST, N.B. — Jeffrey Truchon-Viel struck twice as the Titan subdued Chicoutimi.

Acadie-Bathurst leads the series 3-2.

Adam Holwell had the power-play winner for the Titan at 8:35 of the second period. Jordan Maher also scored for the Titan.

Kevin Klima scored for the Sagueneens.

ISLANDERS 4 REMPARTS 2

CHARLOTTETOWN — Brett Budgell scored twice, including the winner at the 14:30 mark of the third period, as the Islanders toppled Quebec.

The series is now tied up 2-2.

Pascal Aquin also had two goals for Charlottetown.

Andrew Coxhead and Matthew Boucher scored for the Remparts.

OCEANIC 5 WILDCATS 2

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Mathieu Nadeau put away the winner at the 13:14 mark of the third period as the Oceanic slipped past Moncton.

Rimouski now holds a 3-2 series lead.

Alexis Lafreniere, Carson MacKinnon, Samuel Dove-McFalls and Denis Mikhnin also scored for the Oceanic.

Nicholas Welsh and Brady Pataki scored for the Wildcats.

HUSKIES 4 PHOENIX 1

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Peter Abbandonato knocked in the game-winning goal as the Huskies downed Sherbrooke.

Rouyn-Noranda leads the series 3-2.

Taylor Ford, Mathieu Boucher and Patrik Hrehorcak also scored for the Huskies.

Yaroslav Alexeyev scored for the Phoenix.
