A duel between two of the top teams in the QMJHL wasn’t much of a duel at all.
Olivier Bellavance-Roy made 30 saves for his second consecutive shutout and Dean Ouellet had two goals and two assists as the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles trounced the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 7-0 Friday night.
Bellavance-Roy, who has just six career QMJHL games under his belt, extended his shutout streak to 157 minutes, 44 seconds, the longest in the league this season. The 16-year-old, who splits time with Melvin Day, is among the league leaders with a 1.80 goals-against average and .941 save percentage.
Ouellet and Olivier Dame-Malka each had a pair of power-play goals as the Screaming’ Eagles special teams dominated Friday, going 4-for-9 with the man advantage while holding the Titan scoreless in seven power-play opportunities.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL on Friday, it was: Lewiston 7, St. John’s 2; P.E.I. 7, Quebec 6; Halifax 5, Saint John 2; Chicoutimi 5, Drummondville 3; Val-d’Or 5, Gatineau 2; Baie-Comeau 6, Rimouski 0; and Victoriaville 5, Shawinigan 3.
At Sydney, N.S., Robert Slaney had a goal and two assists, Nick MacNeil and Nicolas Chouinard added singles and Kyle Mariani chipped in with three helpers for Cape Breton (7-2-0-0), the top team in the QMJHL standings.
Antoine Tardif stopped 37 shots in a losing cause for Acadie-Bathurst (5-2-1-0), which entered the game with a league-high 36 goals.
Maineiacs 7 Fog Devils 2
At Lewiston, Maine, Billy Lacasse had two goals and the Lewiston scored six times in the second period in a rout of the Fog Devils.
Alexander Beaton, Stefan Chaput, Todd Chinova, Stefano Giliati and Chris Tutalo all contributed a goal and an assist in the middle frame for Lewiston (3-5-0).
Olivier Guilbault and Mario Kempe scored for St. John’s (3-5-1).

At Charlottetown, Jordon Southorn scored with five seconds left as P.E.I. edged Quebec.
Geoff Walker led the Rocket (3-5-0-0) with two goals and two assists, while Brett Morrison had a goal and three assists. Chris Doyle added two goals and Matthew Lachaine also scored.
Kelsey Tessier had three goals and an assist for Quebec (4-5-0-1). Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, Mikhail Stefanovich and Maxime Lacroix also scored.

At Halifax, Ryan Hillier scored twice and added an assist in the Mooseheads’ win over Saint John.
Jakub Voracek had a goal and two assists while Bryce Swan and Andrew Bodnarchuk also scored for Halifax (5-2-0-0).
Matthew Stoddard and Payton Liske countered for the Sea Dogs (4-3-0-0), which lost for the first time in four games.

At Chicoutimi, Que., Francis Pare scored three goals and Nicolas Deschamps added the game winner with 5:41 left in regulation as the Sagueneens rallied to beat Drummondville.
Jacob Legace had the other goal for Chicoutimi (4-5-0-0), winners of three straight.
Charles Landry, Marc-Olivier Vachon and Radek Vlasanek answered for the Voltigeurs (3-6-0-1).

At Val-d’Or, Que., Brad Marchand scored twice in the Foreurs’ victory over Gatineau.

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Mathieu Tousignant had a hat trick and Mathieu Leclair stopped 30 shots as the Drakkar blanked Rimouski.

Michael Dupont made 20 saves as the Oceanic (3-6-1-0) lost their seventh straight.
