QMJHL Roundup: Armada edge Islanders to take series lead

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Alex Barre-Boulet’s goal at the 11:08 mark of the third period was the winner as the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada edged the Charlottetown Islanders 3-2 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff action.

Blainville-Boisbriand has a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven QMJHL semifinal. Game 6 is in Charlottetown on Sunday.

The winner of the series will face Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the league final.

Drake Batherson and Luke Henman gave the Armada a 2-0 lead by the midway point of the game. Emile Samson made 23 saves for the win.

Cameron Askew and Derek Gentile had power-play goals a minute apart for the Islanders. Matthew Welsh stopped 42 shots in net for Charlottetown.

Blainville-Boisbriand was 1 for 3 on the power play and the Islanders were 2 for 3.
