QMJHL Roundup: Beauchemin hat trick leads Foreurs over Voltigeurs

VAL-D’OR, Que. — Francois Beauchemin scored a hat trick to move into a tie for the most goals in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League while leading the Val-d’Or Foreurs over the Drummondville Voltigeurs 5-4 on Wednesday night.

Beauchemin has 14 goals in 18 games this season and is tied with Charlottetown’s Filip Chlapik, who has played five fewer games. The 20-year-old from Rimouski, Que., is also tied for fourth with Chlapik in the league scoring leaders with 23 points.

Yohan Plamondon and Simon Lafrance also scored for the Foreurs (9-8-1) while Julien Gauthier tacked on three helpers.

Jarrett Baker, Charley Grasskamp, Pavel Koltygin and Nathan Hudgin provided the offence for Drummondville (6-8-2). Nicolas Beaudin added three helpers.

Dereck Baribeau turned aside 19-of-21 shots in relief for the win in net. Etienne Montpetit started but was lifted after making 18 saves in 36:18.

Tommy Dery-Vigneault took the loss after stopping 23-of-26 shots in 55:05. Frederic Foulem started but was replaced after letting in the first two shots he faced.

Val-d’Or was scoreless on four power plays and the Voltigeurs went 1 for 5.

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Joel Teasdale and Miguel Picard had a goal and an assist each to lead the Armada past Rimouski for their sixth win in a row.

Connor Bramwell and Alexandre Alain had the others for Blainville-Boisbriand (12-4-1), which got 26 saves from Samuel Montembeault.

Simon Bourque struck twice for the Oceanic (8-8-0) and Alexandre Legace stopped 25 shots.

SHAWINIGAN, Que. — Samuel Bucek had two goals and an assist as the Cataractes doubled up Quebec.

Brandon Gignac and Samuel Asselin also chipped in for Shawinigan (13-2-0), which got 22 saves from Mikhail Denisov.

Philipp Kurashev and Dmitry Buynitskiy scored for the Remparts (9-6-2). Evgeny Kiselev turned aside 27-of-31 shots.

PHOENIX 4 TIGRES 1

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Julien Pelletier scored twice and added an assist as the Phoenix toppled Victoriaville.

Hugo Roy had a goal and two assists with Thomas Gregoire also chipping in for Sherbrooke (6-6-3). Evan Fitzpatrick made 23 saves.

Felix Lauzon had a power-play goal for the Tigres (8-8-2) and Olivier Tremblay stopped 41 shots.

GATINEAU, Que. — Yakov Trenin scored the winner and Mark Grametbauer made 28 saves as the Olympiques got past Halifax to snap a three-game skid.

Gabriel Bilodeau and Zack MacEwen had power-play goals for Gatineau (4-10-2). Marc-Olivier Crevier-Morin and Alex Dostie, into an empty net, also chipped in.

Keigan Goetz and Nico Hischier found the back of the net for the Mooseheads (8-9-0). Alex Gravel turned away 34-of-38 shots.
