QMJHL Roundup: Fitzpatrick perfect as Titan shut out Phoenix

SHERBROOKE, Que. – Evan Fitzpatrick stopped all 23 shots he faced as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan shut out the Sherbrooke Phoenix 5-0 on Tuesday night in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff action.

Acadie-Bathurst leads the best-of-seven quarterfinal 3-0.

German Rubtsov struck twice for the Titan, while Jeffrey Truchon-Viel put away the winner at the 12:40 mark of the first period. Mitchell Balmas and Marc-Andre LeCouffe also scored.

Brendan Cregan combined with Reilly Pickard for 34 saves for Sherbrooke.

Neither team could score on the power play. Acadie-Bathurst went 0 for 6 and the Phoenix were 0 for 5.

ARMADA 7 WILDCATS 1

MONCTON, N.B. — Drake Batherson scored and added three assists as Blainville-Boisbriand cruised past the Wildcats.

The Armada now holds a 3-0 lead in the series.

Alexander Katerinakis had the eventual winner early in the second period and had two helpers for Blainville-Boisbirand, while Alexandre Alain, Joel Teasdale, Anthony Poulin, Alex Barre-Boulet and Mathieu Boissonneault rounded out the attack. Mikhail Denisov made 13 saves for the win.

Justin Lazure scored for the Wildcats and Mark Grametbauer turned aside 30 shots in net.

ISLANDERS 5 MOOSEHEADS 2

CHARLOTTETOWN — Pierre-Olivier Joseph scored the game-winning goal in the second period as the Islanders topped Halifax.

Charlottetown has a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.

Nikita Alexandrov, Brett Budgell, Cameron Askew and Daniel Hardie also scored for the Islanders, while Matthew Welsh made 27 saves for the win.

Xavier Parent and Connor Moynihan scored for the Mooseheads as Blade Mann-Dixon kicked out 30 shots.
