QMJHL Roundup: Gatineau makes it four straight

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Yakov Trenin scored twice, including a short-handed goal into an empty net, and Alex Dostie had a goal and two assists to power Gatineau over the Armada for its fourth straight win.

Marc-Olivier Crevier-Morin scored one goal and set up another and Yan Pavel Laplante rounded out the offence for the Olympiques (37-15-3).

William Gignac led Blainville-Boisbriand (20-27-7) with a goal and an assist. Brendan Hamelin and Jan Dufek also scored and TJ Melancon helped set up all three goals.

SEA DOGS 6 SAGUENEENS 5 (OT)
SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Mathieu Joseph found the back of the net 35 seconds into overtime as the Saint John Sea Dogs edged the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 6-5 on Sunday for their third straight win in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Samuel Dove-McFalls scored back-to-back goals less than 30 seconds apart in the third period, including the tying goal with five seconds remaining in regulation, as the Sea Dogs (35-14-4) rallied from a 5-3 deficit.

Sam Povorozniouk also scored twice, Spencer Smallman had the other goal and Nathan Noel chipped in with four assists.

Mark Bzowey led Chicoutimi (24-21-9) with a goal and an assist. Dmitry Zhukenov, Nicolas Roy, Taylor Cooper and Antoine Marcoux also scored.

Marc-Antoine Turcotte turned aside 15 shots for the win. Xavier Potvin made 37 saves in the losing effort.

Saint John was 2 for 6 on the power play while the Saguenees scored two goals on four chances with the man advantage.

REMPARTS 4 PHOENIX 3 (OT)

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Aaron Dutra scored 2:01 into overtime to lift Quebec to a comeback victory over the Phoenix.

The Remparts (25-24-5) were down 3-0 before storming back with four consecutive goals spanning the third period and overtime. Bronson Beaton, Alexandre Sills and August Impose scored in regulation and Sills picked up an assist on Dutra’s winner.

Nicolas Poulin, Julien Pelletier and Kay Schweri scored first-period goals for Sherbrooke (20-26-9), which has dropped three straight.

SCREAMING EAGLES 5 TIGRES 3

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Evgeny Svechnikov struck twice to lead Cape Breton over the Tigres.

Phelix Martineau, while shorthanded, Giovanni Fiore, and Pierre-Luc Dubois, into an empty net, also scored for the Screaming Eagles (29-22-6).

Alexandre Goulet had a goal and an assist for Victoriaville (27-20-7) and Pascal Laberge supplied the rest of the offence.
