ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. – Rafael Harvey-Pinard scored twice as the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies downed the Halifax Mooseheads 5-2 on Thursday in Game 1 of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s championship final.
Felix Bibeau also scored twice for Rouyn-Noranda, while Noah Dobson put away the power-play winner at the 7:38 mark of the second period.
Samuel Harvey made 34 saves for the win in net.
Justin Barron and Raphael Lavoie replied for the Mooseheads as goalie Alexis Gravel stopped 32 shots.
The Huskies went 2 for 9 on the power play and Halifax could not score on its one-man advantage.
Game 2 is in Rouyn-Noranda, Que., on Friday.
Both the Huskies and the Mooseheads have already qualified for the Memorial Cup, Canada’s national major junior hockey championship. Halifax is in as the tournament’s host, making Rouyn-Noranda the default QMJHL representative.
