QMJHL Roundup: Islanders down Remparts in Game 7 to advance

QUEBEC — Pascal Aquin scored four times as the Charlottetown Islanders cruised into the quarterfinals of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs with an 8-3 win over the Quebec Remparts in Game 7 of their first-round series.

Daniel Hardie had a goal and two assists and Cameron Askew, Sullivan Sparkes and Taylor Egan also scored for the Islanders, who will meet the Halifax Mooseheads in the second round.

Andrew Coxhead, Philipp Kurashev and Olivier Garneau supplied the offence for Quebec, which forced the deciding seventh game with a 5-2 win Monday night.

Charlottetown’s Matthew Welsh kicked out 36 shots while Remparts goaltenders Dereck Baribeau and Antoine Samuel combined for 20 saves.

The Islanders went 1 for 2 with the man advantage. Quebec was 2 for 6 on the power play.

PHOENIX 3 HUSKIES 1

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Felix Robert’s goal 15:27 into the second period stood as the winner as Sherbrooke took Game 7 against the Huskies to advance to the second round.

Evan MacKinnon and Nicolas Poulin also scored for the Phoenix.

Tommy Beaudoin had the lone goal for Rouyn-Noranda.

Sherbrooke will play the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the league quarterfinals.

WILDCATS 6 OCEANIC 3

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Nicholas Welsh had a goal and two helpers and Jeremy McKenna tacked on four assists to lead 14th-seeded Moncton over the third-seeded Oceanic in Game 7 of their first-round series.

Brady Pataki, Daniil Miromanov, Jonathan Aspirot, Dylan Seitz and James Phelan also scored for the Wildcats.

Denis Mikhnin led Rimouski’s offence with a pair of goals. Samuel Dove-McFalls had the other.

Moncton moves on to face the top-seeded Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the next round.
