QMJHL Roundup: Lafreniere scores twice, Oceanic beat Armada

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Alexis Lafreniere had two goals and an assist as the Rimouski Oceanic downed the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 5-2 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Cedric Pare, Jordan Lepage and Olivier Garneau rounded out the offence for the Oceanic (27-14-3).

Tyler Hylland and Samuel Bolduc found the back of the net for the Armada (17-26-1), who have lost three straight and are 2-8-0 in their last 10.

Tristan Berube kicked out 22 shots for Rimouski as Brendan Cregan turned away 40 shots for Blainville-Boisbriand.

The Oceanic went 0 for 2 on the power play while the Armada were 1 for 4 with the man advantage.

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Lucas Fitzpatrick only had to make 16 saves as the Drakkar extended their point streak to double digits with a win over Shawinigan.

Xavier Bouchard, Shawn Element, Nathan Legare, Ivan Chekhovich and Yaroslav Alexeyev scored for the Drakkar (32-9-3), who are 9-0-1 in their last 10 games.

Antoine Coulombe turned aside 41 shots for the Cataractes (11-29-4), who are 3-6-1 in their last 10 outings.

HALIFAX — Samuel Asselin had a pair of goals as the Mooseheads dealt Acadie-Bathurst its fifth loss in a row.

Keith Getson, Xavier Parent and Raphael Lavoie also scored while backup netminder Cole McLaren only had to make 10 stops for Halifax (31-10-3).

Titan (7-35-2) forward Jesse Sutton scored and picked up assists on goals from Marc-Andre LeCouffe and Liam Leonard. Mark Grametbauer made 29 saves in defeat.

SCREAMING EAGLES 3 WILDCATS 2 (SO)

SYDNEY, N.S. — Mitchell Balmas capped the comeback after Mathias Laferriere forced extra time with a goal at 19:53 of the third as Cape Breton edged Moncton.

Brooklyn Kalmikov also scored in the third for the Screaming Eagles (27-15-3) after falling behind 2-0. Kevin Mandolese made 15 saves for the victory.

Dylan Seitz and Alexander Khovanov found the back of the net for the Wildcats (26-14-6), who got 36 stops from Francis Leclerc.

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Anthony Poulin broke a 1-1 deadlock at 9:44 of the third period as the Tigres slipped past Sherbrooke.

Feliks Morozov also scored while Tristan Cote-Cazenave turned away 24 shots for Victoriaville (16-26-3).

Patrick Guay kept the Phoenix (24=17-2) from being blanked. Dakota Lund-Cornish made 24 saves in a losing cause.
