QMJHL Roundup: L’Italien’s short-handed goal helps Drakkar sink Armada

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Samuel L’Italien’s short-handed goal in the third period was the winner as the Baie-Comeau Drakkar sank the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 4-3 on Tuesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Gabriel Fortier, Ivan Chekhovich and Nathan Legare also scored as the Drakkar (31-9-3) built a 4-2 lead.

Alexander Katerinakis scored less than a minute after L’Italien but that was as close as the Armada (17-24-1) would get to a comeback. Antoine Demers and Simon Pinard both scored in the first period.

Alex D’Orio made 25 saves for the win and Brendan Cregan stopped 34 shots for Blainville-Boisbriand.

Baie-Comeau went 0 for 3 on the power play and the Armada were 1 for 6 with the man advantage.

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. — Dawson Mercer had a hat trick as the Voltigeurs routed Victoriaville.

Gregor MacLeod had a pair of goals, including the power-play winner in the first period for Drummondville (33-9-1). Jarrett Baker and Joseph Veleno also scored.

Mikhail Abramov was the lone scorer for the Tigres (15-25-3).

Voltigeurs centre Xavier Simoneau earned a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for checking from behind at 19:45 of the second period.
