QMJHL Roundup: Mikhnin, Dove-McFalls lead Oceanic past Sea Dogs

RIMOUSKI, Que. – Denis Mikhnin had three goals and an assist and Samuel Dove-McFalls also scored a hat trick as the Rimouski Oceanic crushed the Saint John Sea Dogs 8-1 on Sunday afternoon in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Mathieu Bizier had a goal and three helpers while Alexis Lafreniere scored a goal and had two assists for the Oceanic (28-11-4). Anthony Gagnon and Mathieu Nadeau both tacked on three helpers.

Radim Salda replied for Saint John (11-24-8).

Colten Ellis kicked out 22 shots for Rimouski. Matthew Williams combined with Alex D’Orio for 32 saves for the Sea Dogs.

The Oceanic went 0-for-4 on the power play and Saint John was scoreless on three attempts.

DRAKKAR 5 SCREAMING EAGLES 3

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Ivan Chekhovich struck twice as the Drakkar got past Cape Breton.

Xavier Bouchard, Luke Kirwan and Christopher Benoit rounded out the attack for Baie-Comeau (19-20-3). Francis Leclerc turned away 31 shots in net.

Tyler Hylland, Peyton Hoyt and Declan Smith scored for the Screaming Eagles (20-19-4), who got 24 saves from Kyle Jessiman.

WILDCATS 4 ISLANDERS 1

MONCTON, N.B. — Anderson MacDonald scored twice and Mark Grametbauer turned away 29 shots as the Wildcats downed Charlottetown.

Mika Cyr and James Phelan also chipped in for Moncton (17-19-8).

Sullivan Sparkes had the lone goal for the Islanders (25-14-3) and Dakota Lund-Cornish made 20 saves.

VOLTIGEURS 5 HUSKIES 1

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. — Nicolas Guay had two goals and an assist as the Voltigeurs toppled Rouyn-Noranda.

Cedric Desruisseaux, Robert Lynch and Connor Bramwell supplied the rest of the offence for Drummondville (29-12-2). Olivier Rodrigue made 25 saves for the win in net.

Rafael Harvey-Pinard scored and Zachary Emond turned away 29 shots for the Huskies (25-12-7).

The Voltigeurs’s Bastian Eckl was given a match penalty for high sticking at 4:07 of the second period.

TITAN 4 REMPARTS 1

QUEBEC CITY — German Rubtsov scored twice and Evan Fitzpatrick turned aside 26 shots as Acadie-Bathurst defeated the Remparts.

Jeffrey Truchon-Viel and Noah Dobson also had goals for the Titan (23-13-8).

Pascal Laberge opened the scoring for Quebec (23-16-5), which got 26 saves from Antoine Samuel.

FOREURS 3 PHOENIX 2 (SO)

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Nicolas Ouellet tied the game in the third period with a short-handed goal and then won it in the shootout as Val-d’Or topped the Phoenix.

Jeremy Michel had the other goal for the Foreurs (17-22-4) and Mathieu Marquis stopped 47 shots.

Felix Robert and Jaxon Bellamy scored for Sherbrooke (18-17-9). Reilly Pickard made 36 saves in defeat.

TIGRES 3 OLYMPIQUES 2

GATINEAU, Que. — Maxime Comtois had a pair of goals to lift Victoriaville past the Olympiques.

Chase Harwell also scored and Etienne Montpetit made 13 saves for the Tigres (21-16-6).

Giordano Finoro and Gabriel Bilodeau found the back of the net for Gatineau (23-15-4), which got 20 stops from Tristan Berube.
