QMJHL Roundup: Screaming Eagles fall to Sea Dogs

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. – Alex Barre-Boulet scored 48 seconds into overtime and added three assists as the Drummondville Voltigeurs edged the Moncton Wildcats 5-4 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Frederic Aube struck twice while Sergei Boikov had a goal and two assists for the Voltigeurs (22-25-1). Charley Grasskamp also scored, with Michael Carcone tacking on three helpers.

Conor Garland, Joey Richard, Cameron Askew and Kevin Klima found the back of the net for Moncton (30-12-7).

Anthony Dumont-Bouchard kicked out 32 shots for the win in net as Blade Mann-Dixon turned aside 29-of-34 shots in defeat.

Both teams went 3 for 4 on the power play.


SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Spencer Smallman scored twice as the Sea Dogs got past Cape Breton.

Mathieu Joseph, Matthew Highmore and Nathan Noel all had a goal and two assists for Saint John (29-13-4). Daniel Del Paggio and Sam Povorozniouk also chipped in.

Evgeny Svechnikov had two goals and an assist for the Screaming Eagles (24-20-5). Michael Joly had a goal and two assists while Maxim Lazarev and Tobie Paquette-Bisson also scored.


GATINEAU, Que. — Yakov Trenin had a pair of goals, including one on the power play, as the Olympiques toppled Quebec.

Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau added the other in the third period for Gatineau (32-13-3).

Auguste Impose evened the game at 1-1 in the third period for the Remparts (23-19-5) before Trenin helped the Olympiques regain the lead.


CHICOUTIMI, Que. — Louis-Philip Guindon stopped all 26 shots he faced as Rimouski blanked the Sagueneens.

Dylan Montcalm, on the power play, and Samuel Laberge, shorthanded into an empty net, scored for the Oceanic (27-16-4).

Julio Billia turned away 27 shots for Chicoutimi (20-19-6).


BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Danny Moynihan and Gabriel Gagne both had a goal and an assist to lead Shawinigan past the Drakkar.

Dennis Yan, Alexis D’Aoust and Simon Benoit rounded out the attack for the Cataractes (30-12-3).

Matthieu Desautels and Fabrizio Ricci scored for Baie-Comeau (8-35-3).


VAL-D’OR, Que. — Nicolas Aube-Kubel had two goals and an assist as the Foreurs routed Victoriaville.

Francois Beauchemin and Jan Mandat each scored once and added two assists for Val-d’Or (36-9-3). Nathan Tremblay and Mathieu Nadeau rounded out the attack.

James Phelan and Pascal Laberge found the back of the net for the Tigres (21-19-7).

Mandat was assessed a match penalty in the second period for throwing a piece of equipment.


BOISBRIAND, Que. — Daniel Audette scored a power-play goal at 3:26 of overtime as Sherbrooke shut out the Armada.

Evan Fitzpatrick stopped all 20 shots in net for the Phoenix (18-23-7).

Samuel Montembeault made 30 saves for Blainville-Boisbriand (18-23-6).

Morgan Adams-Moisan of the Armada was ejected at 6:33 of the third period after a major penalty for kneeing.
