QMJHL Roundup: Screaming Eagles fall to Sea Dogs

Marc-Antoine Turcotte stopped 39 shots and got the shootout win for the Sea Dogs to get a 3-2 win over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Marc-Antoine Turcotte stopped 39 shots through regulation and overtime and Joe Veleno scored the winner in a shootout as the Saint John Sea Dogs edged the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 3-2 on Friday night in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Sam Povorozniouk had a power-play goal 28 seconds into the third period to even the game for Saint John (28-13-4). Mathieu Joseph added the other late in the second.

Michael Joly scored both goals in regulation for the Screaming Eagles (24-19-5), who got 37 saves from Alexandre Belanger.

Ottawa Senators prospect and Sea Dogs defenceman Thomas Chabot was ejected in the second period after a major penalty for checking from behind.

Saint John was 1 for 4 on the power play, with Cape Breton going scoreless on three opportunities.

TITAN 4 ISLANDERS 3

BATHURST, N.B. — Daniil Miromanov scored twice in a three-goal second period for the Titan as they edged Charlottetown.

Felix Boivin had the other on the power play in the second for Acadie-Bathurst (18-23-5). Vladimir Kuznetsov scored in the first.

Bradley Kennedy, on the power play, Mitchell Balmas and Jake Coughler found the back of the net for the Islanders (18-22-7).

PHOENIX 7 WILDCATS 1

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Kay Schweri scored twice and added an assist as the Phoenix routed Moncton.

Julien Pelletier struck twice with Anthony Chapados tacking on three assists for Sherbrooke (17-23-7). Kevin Gilbert, Guillaume Gauthier and Daniel Audette rounded out the attack.

Kevin Klima had the lone goal for the Wildcats (30-12-6).

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Alexandre Legace made 27 saves as Rimouski shut out the Drakkar.

Dylan Montcalm, Raphael Bastille, Antoine Dufort-Plante, Tyler Boland and Simon Bourque provided the offence for the Oceanic (26-16-4).

Antoine Samuel kicked out 12-of-14 shots in 37:15 before giving way to Bo Taylor, who turned away 11-of-14 shots for Baie-Comeau (8-34-3).

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Yvan Mongo and William Gignac scored in the third period as the Armada rallied past Gatineau.

Joel Teasdale had a goal and two assists while Jan Dufek had the other for Blainville-Boisbriand (18-22-6).

Vitalii Abramov, Yakov Trenin and Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau had goals for the Olympiques (31-13-3).

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. — Michael Carcone had the winner at 3:17 of overtime as the Voltigeurs slipped past Quebec.

William Leblanc and Justin Guenette, on the power play, found the back of the net in regulation for Drummondville (21-25-1).

Bronson Beaton and Ross MacDougall had power-play goals for the Remparts (23-18-5).

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Mathieu Boucher struck twice as the Huskies got past Victoriaville.

Julien Nantel and Allan Caron also chipped in while Nikolas Brouillard tacked on three assists for Rouyn-Noranda (35-8-4).

Mathieu Ayotte scored the lone goal for the Tigres (21-18-7).

VAL-D’OR, Que. — Nicolas Aube-Kubel had the eventual winner on the power play in the third period as the Foreurs held off Halifax.

Anthony Richard scored 20 seconds into the third for Val-d’Or (35-9-3), with Francois Beauchemin and Julien Gauthier tacking on the others.

Arnaud Durandea and Anthony Sorrentino had power-play goals for the Mooseheads (15-27-6), who also got a short-handed goal for Barrett Dachyshyn.
